Катя снова отправляется на Змеиную гору, чтобы найти еще камни. Но она снова думает о Даниле, и слезы текут по ее лицу. «Где ты, Данила? Почему ты меня бросил?» Тогда Катя оглядывается и видит, что гора открывается перед ней. «Это, должно быть, Волшебный сад!» – говорит она. «Возможно, здесь мой дорогой Данила. Может быть, я смогу увидеть его снова!» Катя уверена, что Данила в горе. Она начинает звать: «Данила, где ты? Ответь мне!» Вдруг появляется Хозяйка Медной горы и спрашивает: «Зачем ты пришла в мой Волшебный сад? Если тебе нужны камни, бери, что хочешь, и уходи.» Катя удивилась, увидев ее, но не испугалась.
