Hello and welcome to the show! Today I'm going to tell you about New Year in Russia. New Year is a very popular holiday in Russia. We celebrate New Year in winter from 31st of December to 1st of January. There are holidays for 10 days after it and we don't work and study. We all gather together with our families, have fun, dance, burn fireworks. We eat Olivie salad which is a main dish for Russian New Year. We also eat salads, chicken, fish, bread.

Hello and welcome to the show! Maslenitsa is one of the most cheerful holidays in Russia. All week long, people are having a fun winter send-off. Earlier, during the celebration of Maslenitsa, ice slides were erected in the squares of cities, tea, sweets, pancakes were sold, people in costumes had fun, rode horses. The main dish on Maslenitsa is pancakes. They are baked and eaten in large quantities. There is a certain rite for every day on Shrove Tuesday. For example, on the first day (Monday) they celebrate Maslenitsa. On this day, they make a straw doll and cook a lot of dishes. And on the last day (Sunday), a straw doll is burned. On this day, it is customary to forgive all insults.

(Здравствуйте и добро пожаловать на шоу! Масленица — один из самых веселых праздников в России. Всю неделю люди устраивают веселые проводы зимы. Раньше при праздновании Масленицы на площадях городов возводились ледяные горки, торговали чаем, сладостями, блинами, веселился народ в костюмах, катались на лошадях. Главное блюдо на Масленице — это блины. Их пекут и едят в большом количестве. На каждый день на Масленой неделе есть определенный обряд. Например, в первый день (в понедельник) встречают Масленицу. В этот день делают соломенную куклу и готовят много блюд. А в последний день (в воскресенье) сжигают соломенную куклу. В этот день принято прощать все обиды.)

Hello and welcome to the show! Today we're talking about Ivan Kupala night. We celebrate it on the 6th of July. Ivan Kupala was a god of water in old/pagan Russia. On Ivan Kupala night, people bathe in a river or a lake and pour water on each other. People also light big fires, sing songs, dance and jump over the fire. The legend says that anyone who jumps the highest will become happy. Everyone has a lovely time!

В ночь на Ивана Купала люди купаются в реке или озере и обливают друг друга водой. Люди также разжигают большие костры, поют песни, танцуют и прыгают через огонь. Легенда гласит, что любой, кто прыгнет выше всех, станет счастливым. Все прекрасно проводят время!)

Hello and welcome to the show! Today we're talking about Bonfire Night, a very important celebration in Britain. On Bonfire Night, people light big fires and set off fireworks. Bonfire Night is always on the 5th of November. It is sometimes called Guy Fawkes Night. Of course, British people love food! They eat baked potatoes and toffee apples on Bonfire Night and everyone has a lovely time.
