28 City or Country?
Skills Cross-Cultural
Listening and reading
1 Steve lives in Bristol, a city in England. Read and listen to Steve and say if he wants to live in the country.
There are some good things about living in a village in the country. Ittasks quieter than the city. Also, ittasks more beautiful and ittasks cleaner because there arentaskt many cars and buses.
However, there are a lot of bad things about living in the country. Ittasks more boring than living in the city. Cinemas, cafes and swimming pools are a long way from your home. Also, ittasks more difficult to go shopping in the country because there arentaskt many shops. But the worst thing about living in the country is that ittasks more difficult to find friends there. Ittasks easier to find friends in a city because there are more kids the same age as you.
I live in Bristol and I like living in the city because ittasks more exciting and more interesting than living in the country.

Listening
З Listen to Helen. She lives in Charfield, a village 20 miles from Bristol. Does she think it is better to live in the city?
Текст аудирования:
Yes, there are some good things about living in a city. Cities are exciting and there are a lot of things you can do. However, these things are usually expensive and most kids haven’t got the money to go to cinemas or cafes. Also, I don’t agree with Steve that it’s easier to find friends in a city. A lot of kids in cities live a long way from their friends and it’s more difficult to meet than in the country. I live in Charfield and I’ve got a lot of good friends here in my village and it’s great because they live close to my house. After school and at the weekend I hang out with my friends in the park or in their houses. It’s much better than living in the city!
