Nineteen-year-old Bill and Paul Allen started the Microsoft company in Albuquerque in 1975.

In 1977 at the age of twenty-one Bill left Harvard University. Microsoft started producing operating systems for IBM’s new personal computers the same year.

Microsoft introduced its first applications program, Word, in September 1983.

And Bill and Paul Allen became millionaires in 1986.

They donated $2.2 million to Lakeside School for a new science and mathematics building.

7 years later Microsoft became the world’s largest computer company.

Then Bill married one of Microsoft’s marketing managers, Melinda French in 1994.

Bill’s wife, Melinda Gates, gave birth to a baby, Jennifer Katharine Gates, on 26 of April 1996.

6 years later Time Magazine named Bill Gates the ‘Person of the Year’.

In 2007 Gates ‘graduated’ from Harvard; the university awarded him with an honorary degree.

In 2010 Gates and his good friend and companion Warren Buffett promised to donate at least half of their wealth to charity over time
