Соединенное Королевство состоит из 4 стран: Англии, Шотландии, Уэльса и Северной Ирландии. Столицы этих стран: Лондон, Эдинбург, Кардифф и Белфаст. Официальное название всей страны – Соединенное Королевство Великобритании и Северной Ирландии. Слишком длинное, да? Поэтому люди обычно называют ее Соединенным Королевством. Название «Соединенное Королевство» впервые было использовано в 1707 году.

Соединенное Королевство состоит из более 5 000 островов, как больших, так и маленьких. Великобритания – самый большой остров. На этом острове находятся три страны: Англия, Шотландия и Уэльс. Но в Великобританию не входит Северная Ирландия.

Национальный флаг Соединенного Королевства называется «Юнион Джек».

Все люди, живущие в Соединенном Королевстве, говорят на английском. Это официальный язык Соединенного Королевства. Но некоторые люди в Шотландии, Уэльсе и Северное Ирландии говорят также и на своих родных языках.

From this text, I learned how the name of the whole country appeared, i.e., how the British call their country. I also learned that the flag has a name, as well as what language is the official language.

Из этого текста я узнала, как появилось название всей страны, т.е. как британцы называют свою страну. Еще я узнала, что у флага есть название, а также какой язык является официальным.

The United Kingdom or the UK consists of four countries: England. Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The capitals of these countries are: London, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast. The official name of the whole country is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It’s too long, isntaskt it? So usually people call it the UK or the United Kingdom. The name ‘United Kingdom’ was first used in 1707.

The United Kingdom consists of more than 5,000 islands, small and big. Great Britain is the largest island. Three countries are located on this island: England, Scotland and Wales. But Great Britain doesntaskt include Northern Ireland.

The national flag of the United Kingdom is called the Union Jack.
