A. Теннис очень популярен в Британии. Впервые эта игра появилась в Англии. Ежегодно в июне на Уимблдоне проходит самое крупное соревнование в мире. Этот мировой центр тенниса расположен недалеко от центра Лондона... Многие болельщики и туристы приезжают туда, чтобы посмотреть игры c известными игроками. Миллионы людей смотрят Уимблдонский чемпионат по телевизору.

В. Англичане также любят все виды гонок. В Англии очень популярны скачки, автогонки и лодочные гонки. Самые знаменитые лодочные гонки в Англии проходят между Оксфордом и Кембриджем. Впервые они начались в 1829 году и проводятся почти каждую весну с 1836 года. Многие люди приходят посмотреть эти соревнования двух ведущих английских университетов....

Большинство людей думают, что англичане изобрели футбол... Эта игра там очень популярна.

Во многих британских городах есть футбольная команда. Существует четыре футбольных чемпионата: в Англии, Шотландии, Уэльсе и Северной Ирландии. Самая сильная футбольная команда на Британских островах – «Манчестер Юнайтед», хотя «Арсенал» и «Челси» в Лондоне тоже очень хороши.

D. Крикет – национальная английская игра. Крикет – это летняя игра: в нее обычно играют в школах, колледжах и университетах. Крикет – очень длинная и медленная игра. В ней две команды. И каждая из них состоит из одиннадцати человек. Боулер бросает мяч, а отбивающий бьет по нему битой.
