Мы используем Past Continuous для описания:

а) какого-либо действия в конкретное время в прошлом.

b) действия в процессе, когда другое действие прервало его.

Вчера он смотрел телевизор в 6 часов вечера. (Когда? В 6.00 вчера).

Он готовил, когда отключили питание.

Временные выражения, используются с Past Continuous::

while (в то время как), when (когда), as (как), all day (весь день), yesterday at 5 o’clock (вчера в 5 часов).

a) an action in progress at a specific time in the past, b) an action in progress when another action interrupted it.

He was watching TV at 6 o’clock yesterday afternoon. (When? At 6. 00 yesterday afternoon.)

He was cooking when there was a power cut.

Time expressions used with the past continuous:

while, when, as, all day, yesterday at 5 o’clock etc.
