Roald Dahl was a famous children’s writer. His best books became real classics. Roald Dahl was born on 13th September 1916 in Wales. He died in 1990. Dahl lived in England, Africa and the USA. His school years were not really happy. When he went to a boys’ school, his life there wasn’t very easy. After school Dahl didn’t go to University. He wanted to work and to travel. He worked in Africa and then became a pilot.
Roald Dahl first began to write in the USA. He wrote his first children’s book in 1943.
Roald Dahl got married in 1942. His wife was an American actress Patricia Neal. They had five children together but their elder daughter Olivia died at the age of seven.
Roald Dahl wrote a lot of books for children and for their parents. His books are interesting and often funny. Roald Dahl liked his young readers and loved to write for them.
