Луиза услышала движение за ней...

Затем она увидела фигуру. На этот раз она была ближе.

Она был завернута черной тканью.

Луиза могла ясно видеть, что это была широкая взрослая фигура.

Фигура повернулась, указала на пистолет, и выстрел был в стену.

Эта фигура исчезла в темноте. Луиза могла видеть отверстие в стене толщиной в несколько сантиметров и пару сантиметров в глубину. Было тепло.

Тот, кто был там, стрелял из лазерного оружия, который мог прорезать камень!

Луиза пыталась контролировать свою панику и думать ясно. Но что?

Гэвин постучал во входную дверь коттеджа, но миссис Фостер не открыла ее сразу, как обычно.

«Бабуля! Ты здесь?» Никто не ответил.

Гэвин немного подождал. Он не мог слышать ни звука. «Может быть, она меня не слышит», - подумал он.

Он попробовал открыть дверь. Она не была заперта, поэтому он открыл ее и вошел внутрь. В комнате было пусто.

«Бабушка, где ты? Это я, Гэвин». Никого там не было, даже Тинкера, кошки. Гэвин оглядел теплую, уютную маленькую комнату. Огонь все еще горел ярко. Стол был накрыт для двух человек, и он мог чувствовать восхитительный запах, исходящий из крошечной кухни.

Он подумал: «Где она? И где Тинкер?»

Он побежал наверх и быстро заглянул в две крошечные спальни.

-Ты там, бабушка?

Никто не ответил.

Через час полицейские позвонили и сказали папе Терри, что они проверили фургон, но обнаружили, что он пуст.

Полиция сделала все возможное.

«Те Мальчики могут быть нарушителями спокойствиями, но это не значит, что они украли твой велосипед», - сказал папа. «Я знаю, что они это сделали», ответил Терри. «Они, должно быть, продали его».

Терри лежал на кровати, чувствуя себя одиноким и несчастным. Его велосипед угнали, и он не сможет кататься до конца сезона - или вообще. Ему потребовалось более года, чтобы сэкономить. Что он собирался делать?

Раздался стук. Это была мама:

«Ты расстраиваешь всех, включая себя. Мы все знаем, какой ужасный шок потерять велосипед.

Терри не ответил, и его мать ушла.

Then she saw the figure. It was closer this time.

The figure turned, pointed his gun and the shot hit the wall.

The figure disappeared back into the darkness. Louise could see a hole in the wall a few centimeters thick and a couple of centimeters across. It was warm.

Whoever was out there was shooting a laser gun that could cut into stone!

Louise tried to control her panic and think clearly. But what?

Gavin knocked on the front door of the cottage, but Mrs Foster didntaskt open it at once, like she usually did.

"Gran! Are you there?" No one answered.

Gavin waited for a moment. He couldntaskt hear - sound. "Maybe she cantaskt hear me," he thought.

He tried the door. It wasntaskt locked so he opened it and went inside. The room was empty.

"Gran! Where are you? Ittasks me, Gavin." No one was there, not even Tinker, the cat. Gavin looked round the warm, cosy little room. The fire was still burning brightly. The table was set for two people and he could smell a delicious smell coming from the tiny kitchen.

He thought: "Where is she? And wheretasks Tinker?"

He ran upstairs and looked quickly into the two tiny bedrooms.

- Are you there, Gran?

Nobody answered.

An hour later the police phoned and told Terrytask s dad that they had checked the van but found it empty.

The police had done what they could.
