Interviewer: So, Ken, you were the victim of a shark attack, is that fight?
Ken: Yes, That’s right.
Interviewer: Where did this happen?
Ken: it was in the USA at the place called Ano Nuevo in California
Interviewer: And when did it happen?
Ken: Last summer I was there for my holidays with my friends
Interviewer: So, what happened exactly?
Ken: Well. I was in my now seayak.
Interviewer: What’s a seoyak?
Ken: It’s a canoe specialty made for the sea. Interviewer: Oh, right. And are you an experienced canoeist?
Ken: Yes, I am I’ve been canoeing for about five years. But this was my first trip on the sea. I was with my friend Anthea, she’s a very experienced sea canoeist.
Interviewer: Eh. Eh.
Ken: Anyway, we were about 100 metres from the shore and we were looking for seals, but the strange thing was that there were no seals in the water.
Interviewer: Uhuh.
Ken: Then suddenly I heard a thump and the car moved violently to one side and then forward very fast.
Interviewer: What did you do?
Ken: Well, nothing. I just shouted. “What’s happening?” and then I turned around and I saw the shark with its teeth in the canoe.
Interviewer: Oh, terrifying!
Ken: Yes, and then he started to dive and I screamed But when he was under the water he let go. I was only under for about five seconds.
Interviewer: What happened then?
Ken: Not much I looked for Anthea and she was behind me and she was OK. So we went to the beach. The canoe was full of water, so it was difficult. And I was worried about the shark still being there. Interviewer: And you wore all right?
Ken: Yes, I was fine, just very frightened.
Interviewer: I’m not surprised. What happened when you got to the beach?
Ken: Some rangers came along and we explained what happened. One of the rangers looked at the canoe and the teeth marks He said the shark was about 4 metres long – a baby, he said. Some baby!
