The United States of America is a federal republic which consist of 50 states and the District of Columbia. Before the arrival of the Europeans (mainly English and French) in the 17th century the country was inhabited by native Indians. The Europeans olonized the country and took the Indian’s land.

Thirteen colonies made the Declaration of Independence in 1776 and became the United States after the War of Independence. The Northern states defeated the South in the American Civil War (1861-1865). Today the population of the USA is 311,856,455 people, and it is one of the greatest nations in the world.
