Это была идея моей мамы отправить меня по молодежному обмену. Я решила посетить мою русскую подругу по переписке Таню в Санкт-Петербурге, а затем мы вдвоем вернемся в Британию. Мы отправляем письма по электронной почте каждую неделю, узнавая друг о друге все больше с каждым письмом.

Так все и начиналось, но как только я оказалась на самом деле в России, я не нервничала. Родители Тани были очень милы. И я была впечатлена Санкт-Петербургом. Это был мой первый раз в этом удивительном городе, и я очень его полюбила! Он красивый и имеет свой характер. Я побывала в знаменитом художественном музее Эрмитажа, прошла вдоль знаменитого Невского проспекта и темной холодной реки Невы и увидела великолепные дворцы Петергофа, а также прекрасные фонтаны. Санкт-Петербург был прекрасен, и я любила смотреть на все исторические здания, которые стоят там уже сотни лет. Погода была дождливой, что было не всегда хорошо для того чтобы гулять, но это предоставило нам время для покупок и музеев. Я сделала много фотографий и купила хорошие сувениры для своих родителей. Русские люди очень дружелюбные и гостеприимные. Все заставляли меня чувствовать как дома. Я никогда не испытывала разочарования в связи с поездкой.

Я могла бы однажды вернуться в Санкт-Петербург. Я надеюсь на это.

It was my mum’s idea for me to go on a youth exchange. I decided to visit my Russian pen friend Tanya in St Petersburg, and then the two of us would return to Britain. We e-mailed every week, learning about each other more with each letter.

That’s how it all began, but once I was actually in Russia, I didn’t feel nervous. Tanya’s parents were both very nice. And I was impressed by St Petersburg. It was my first time in this amazing city and I loved it very much! It’s beautiful and has its own character. I visited the well-known Hermitage art museum, walked along the famous Nevsky Prospect and the dark, cold River Neva, and saw the magnificent palaces of Petergoff as well as the beautiful fountains. St Petersburg was beautiful and I loved looking at all the historical buildings that had been there for hundreds of years. The weather was rainy, which was not always fine for walking, but that left us time for shopping and museums. I took many photos and bought some nice souvenirs for my parents. Russian people are very friendly and hospitable. Everyone made me feel so welcome. I never felt disappointed about the trip.

I might go back to St Petersburg again someday. I hope so.
