Naomi: Well, I try not to eat too much meat. I used to eat a lot of hamburgers and hot dogs, but Itaskm trying not to eat red meat any more because I think it’s very unhealthy to eat too much of it. Beeftasks got a lot of cholesterol and hormones and things in it. But I do enjoy chicken — I cook it two or three times a week. And I eat a lot of fish, too.

Rob: Yeah, I eat meat. A lot, actually. I love steaks and burgers. I can’t imagine life without meat, especially beef. Some of my friends at college are vegetarian and, to be honest, l don’t understand them. They sometimes cook me vegetarian food and I’m always hungry after the meal! It’s natural to eat meat and our brains and our bodies need it ... and of course it’s really delicious, too.

Will: I became a vegetarian about five years ago when I was fifteen. I saw a television documentary about how they killed animals and it really shocked me. It was so cruel. And last year I became a vegan, That means I still don’t eat any meat, but now I don’t eat or use any animal products. No fish, no eggs, nothing with milk in it like cheese or yoghurt. I even don’t wear anything that came from animals ... no leather shoes or jackets. It’s quite hard, but a lot of supermarkets in Britain now have vegan food, things like soya milk, so it’s not impossible.

Sue: When I was at university, I became interested in Buddhism. Because of that I had to stop eating meat. My family weren’t very happy about it Every time I was ill they said to me, ’Oh, Sue! It’s because you don’t eat any meat!’ I have to say it was quite difficult. The problem was that before l became a Buddhist I did really like meat. I used to love bacon and ham sandwiches and things like that. Sometimes when I’m in the supermarket I almost think about buying some pork or chicken. But I don’t.
