Американская писательница Леноре Э. Мулетц очень любила природу, и она написала замечательные детские книги о животных, птицах и цветах. Ее книги были совершенно отличающимися от других детских книг, поскольку они давали советы, например, как выращивать цветы, заботиться о них. Она иллюстрировала свои рассказы красивыми картинами.

Главный герой ее книг Филлис любила цветы, говорила с ними, заботилась о них, могла рассердиться на них, узнать их секреты, и в результате цветы превратились в ее настоящих друзей. Филлис собирала цветы на реке и в поле, а дома выращивала прекрасные цветы в своем саду. Цветы хорошо росли на богатой коричневой почве.

Все книги о животных и растениях имеют одну общую черту: авторы любят природу и заботятся о флоре и фауне своих стран.
