Мы используем условные предложения второго типа, чтобы говорить о нереальных ситуациях и их последствиях.

Для образования предложений мы используем:

If + субъект + время past simple для ситуации + would / wouldn't + инфинитив без частицы «to» для последствия.

If he had a dog, he would feel safe. (Если бы у него была собака, он бы чувствовал себя в безопасности.)

If l didn't have classes today, l would play football. (Если бы у нас не было сегодня уроков, я бы поиграл в футбол.)

«Would» сокращается до «'d» в разговорной речи.

If he had a dog, he'd feel safe. (Если бы у него была собака, он бы чувствовал себя в безопасности.)

Наречия возможности и вероятности

Мы используем наречия «definitely», «probably», «perhaps» и «maybe», чтобы говорить о возможности и вероятности.

«Definitely» и «probably» ставятся после глагола «be».

These are definitely a great idea. (Это определённая отличная идея.)

This js probably our most popular gift. (Это, вероятно, наш самый популярный подарок.)

«Definitely» и «probably» ставятся после утвердительных вспомогательных глаголов (will, would, can...).

They will definitely appreciate this gift. (Им определённо понравится этот подарок.)

They would probably buy some Fairtrade chocolate. (Они, вероятно, купят шоколад Fairtrade.)

«Definitely» и «probably» ставятся после отрицательных вспомогательных глаголов (won't, wouldn’t, can’t...).

He definitely won't keep the wallet. (Он определённо не оставит себе кошелёк.)

She probably can't think of a better present. (Она, вероятно, не может придумать подарок получше.)

«Perhaps» и «maybe» ставятся в начале предложения.

Perhaps I'll buy the chocolates. (Возможно, я куплю шоколад.)

Maybe you'd prefer to save the world. (Возможно ты бы предпочёл спасти мир.)
