I (1) arrived at the scene of the crime at exactly 4.23 am. (2) It was very quiet. (3) There were two bodies; a man and a woman. The man was Smith but I (4) didn’t recognize the woman. While I (5) was looking for clues Smith’s wife arrived. She (6) sat down and smiled. Her husband was dead but she (7) wasn’t sad. ‘I hated him,’ she said. Butch Cassidy was a famous American robber.
He was born in 1866 and his real name was Robert Parker. Before he became a robber, he was a cowboy. He and his gang committed many robberies, mostly of banks and trains. But the police caught Cassidy in 1894 while he was stealing some horses, and he went to prison. After prison, Cassidy formed a gang called taskThe Wild Bunchtask.
ln 1901, Butch Cassidy and another member
of the gang, Harry Longabaugh, left the USA
and travelled to South America. Longabaughs nickname was taskThe Sundance Kid. The two robbers continued to commit crimes. Their biggest robbery was in 1905, when they robbed a bank in Argentina. They stole money worth one hundred thousand US dollars today.
Nobody is sure exactly what happened to Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid, but in Bolivia, in 1908, two American robbers - probably Cassidy and The Sundance Kid - stole money from a silver mine. Three nights later, the local mayor and some soldiers attacked the house where the Americans were staying. They shot and killed both men.
