Татьянин день
Каждый год 25 января, студенты, учителя и преподаватели отмечают Татьянин день. Этот праздник отмечается в честь святой Татьяны, покровительницы студентов. Школы и университеты по всей России празднуют его различными мероприятиями. Во многих школах бывшие ученики приезжают, чтобы поговорить со школьниками о своей учебе в университете. Лучшие студенты получают награды, а в некоторых городах, таких как Нижний Новгород, горожане выбирают лучшую Татьяну из всех студентов города. В некоторых районах в этот день начали ставить спектакли и представления для семей и соседей. По вечерам танцуют на улице, пускают фейерверки.
Россияне считают, что именинница была названа в честь матери графа Ивана Шувалова, Татьяны. 25 января 1755 года, граф Иван и императрица Елизавета Великая договорились о строительстве первого русского университета в Москве. Именины Татьяны также оказались 25 января потому, что именно оттуда началась традиция. На протяжении 200 лет этот праздник празднуется по всей России.

My favourite celebration is International Women’s Day. It is a public holiday in Russia and it is celebrated on March 8. Most banks, official organisations and educational institutions are closed on this day, although shops and kiosks usually stay open. Public transport may run less frequently than usual.
International Women’s Day is often celebrated among family or friends with a festive meal and drinks. Girls and women receive flowers, cards and other gifts on March 8. There are special concerts and parties devoted to women at schools and even kindergartens where children congratulate their mothers and teachers on this day. It’s a day full of flowers and smiles. I like it!
Мой любимый праздник – международный женский день. Это праздничный день в России и его отмечают 8 марта. Большинство банков, официальных организаций и учебных заведений закрыты в этот день, хотя магазины и киоски обычно остаются открытыми. Общественный транспорт может ходить реже, чем обычно.
Международный женский день часто отмечают с семьей или друзьями с праздничным застольем. И женщины получают цветы, открытки и другие подарки 8 марта. В школах и даже в детских садах проходят специальные концерты и праздники, посвященные женщинам, где дети поздравляют своих мам и преподавателей с этим днем. Это день, полный цветов и улыбок. Мне он нравится.

The custom of celebrating the New Year on the night of December 31 to January 1 appeared in Russia under Peter I. Russia at that time switched to a new chronology. In Russia, the New Year is a unique holiday. Unlike Europe and America, New Year is one of the most important and large-scale holidays in the country. People usually celebrate it in the family circle, give gifts. Before the New Year, shops, streets, buildings are decorated with New Year decorations. There is a Christmas tree in the center of each city. People buy a lot of delicious food and drinks for the holiday.
Обычай отмечать Новый год в ночь с 31 декабря на 1 января появился в России при Петре I. Россия в то время перешла на новое летоисчисление. В России Новый год является уникальным праздником. В отличие от Европы и Америки, Новый год является одним из важнейших и масштабных праздников в стране. Люди обычно отмечают его в семейном кругу, дарят подарки. Перед Новым годом магазины, улицы, здания украшают новогодними декорациями. В центре каждого города стоит елка. Люди закупают много изысканных продуктов и напитков на праздник.

The celebration of Maslenitsa comes from the pagan times, when the ancient Rus worshipped the Sun. When Christianity came to Russia, many of the old traditions remained popular, merging with the new, Christian meaning of the holiday.
In modern Russia, symbols of Maslenitsa are pancakes, or bliny, representing the sun, and a straw Maslenitsa doll, which is burned at the end of the celebration week. Maslenitsa is both a farewell to the winter and a welcoming party for the spring. Many traditional activities take place during the Maslenitsa week, including pancake competitions, traditional performances with clowns and characters from Russian fairy tales, snowball fights. Pancakes are traditionally made at home and eaten with honey, caviar, sour cream, mushrooms, jam, and many other tasty fillings.
Празднование Масленицы исходит с языческих времен, когда древние русы поклонялись солнцу. Когда христианство пришло в Россию, многие из старых традиций остались популярными, сливаясь с новым, христианским значением праздника.
В современной России символами Масленицы являются блины, олицетворяющие солнце, и соломенная кукла Масленицы, которую сжигают в конце праздничной недели. Масленица – это и прощание с зимой, и праздник встречи весны. Много традиционных мероприятий происходят на масленичной неделе, включая конкурсы блинов, традиционные представления с клоунами и героями русских сказок, битвы со снежками. Блины традиционно делают дома и едят их с медом, икрой, сметаной, грибами, вареньем (джемом) и многими другими вкусными начинками.

Every year on 25th January, students, teachers and professors celebrate Tatiana’s Day. This holiday celebrates Saint Tatiana, the patron saint of students. Universities all over Russia celebrate it with various events. In many schools former students come to talk to the school children about their university studies. The best students receive awards and in some cities, such as Nizhniy Novgorod, citizens choose the best Tatiana from all the students of the city. Some communities have begun using the day to put on plays and performances for families and neighbours in their area. In the evening, people dance in the street or let off fireworks.
Russians believe the patron saint was named after Count Ivan Shuvalov’s mother, Tatiana. On 25th January, 1755, Count Ivan and Empress Elizabeth agreed to build the first Russian university in Moscow. Tatianatasks name day also happened to be 25th January, so because of this, the tradition began. For over 250 years this celebration has taken place around Russia.
