1. The Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the Industrial Revolution, and modern times are mentioned in the text. In the Middle Ages, there was a revolution in the production of power and wonderful cathedrals of Gothic architecture were built. During the Renaissance, there was the development of science and literature. At that time, the printed books appeared and the New World was discovered. During the Industrial Revolution new technologies developed very fast. At that time, the steam engine was developed, and more universities started to train engineers. Modern times saw achievements in transportation, communications, and the use of energy. Thanks to medical technologies, people can live longer. Thanks to technologies, people have more free time and better living standards.

I'm going to tell you about the history of technology.
There are three periods: the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the Industrial Revolution. In the first period thanks to watermills and windmills the production of power appeared. In the Renaissance were a lot of problems connected with lack of wood and powerful engines. Then was the Industrial Revolution, which led to invention of the steam engine and construction of steamboat and locomotives. Besides, the Industrial Revolution gave rise to the engineering profession. More and more universities began to train engineers. People’s lives have greatly changed thanks to science and technology.
