Когда-то волки сказали собакам: «Почему мы должны продолжать оставаться врагами? Вы очень похожи на нас во многом: основное (1) (difference) различие между нами - это только наше (2) (training) воспитание. Мы живем жизнью (3) (freedom) свободы; но вы (4) (enslaved) порабощены людьми, которые бьют вас, и надевают тяжелые ошейники на ваши шеи и заставляют вас работать. И какова ваша награда? Они не дают вам ничего, кроме костей. Понятно, что ваша жизнь (5) (unhappy) несчастна.

Больше не миритесь с этим. Дайте овец, за которыми вы смотрите, нам, и мы все будем жить и веселиться вместе».

Собаки (6) (stupidly) глупо позволили себе быть убежденными этими словами и (7) (accompanied) сопровождали волков в (8) (depth) глубину леса. Но как только они оказались в самой глуши, (9) (fearful) страшные волки набросились на них и разорвали их на куски. (10) (Traitors) Предатели (11) (rightly) справедливо заслуживают своей судьбы.

The Wolves and the Dogs

Once upon a time the wolves said to the dogs, “Why should we continue to be enemies any longer? You are very like us in most ways: the main (1) difference between us is only our (2) training. We live a life of (3) freedom; but you are (4) enslaved to people, who beat you, and put heavy collars round your necks and make you work hard. And what is your reward? They give you nothing but bones to eat. It is clear that your life is (5) unhappy.

Don’t put up with it any longer. Give the sheep that you’re watching to us, and we will all live and feast together. ”

The dogs (6) stupidly allowed themselves to be persuaded by these words and (7) accompanied the wolves into the (8) depth of the forest. But as soon as they were well inside, the (9) fearful wolves set upon them and tore them to pieces. (10) traitors (11) rightly deserve their fate.
