Home sweet Home
We moved into a semi-detached property in the suburbs three years ago following the birth of our second child. We wanted our children to growtask up having a garden to play in and being able to ride their bicycles in the street — things you just can’t do in a city centre. The move to the suburbs also meant we were able to afford a house with much more living space. I do miss the liveliness of the city, but the calmer pace of life in suburbia is far more suitable for young children.
My wife and I live in a bungalow. I have a chronic back problem, so a house with stairs just isntaskt an option. Bungalows are few and far between in the area where we live, so we were incredibly lucky to get this house. We snapped it up the moment it came on the market. Ittasks in a prime position — close to all the major amenities and with excellent transport links. My wife and I are both retired and we are very happy to have found such a suitable home.
I didn’t spend a great deal of time choosing my present accommodation as my choice was pretty limited - I’m a student, so I am on a very restricted budget. I live in a flat in a small, terraced house in the city centre with another student. The house isn’t exactly in prime condition... to put it nicely! I couldn’t see anyone else but a student living here. But the location is fantastic. It’s just ten minute’s walk from my university, so I am able to run back and forth as necessary.
My husband and I own a beautiful cottage in a quaint English village. It has a thatched roof and a pretty English country garden. We’re proud to live in a home that is so representative of English heritage. We both grew up close by and our families still live here so we feel very tied to the area. Our village is small and everybody knows each other. It’s a lovely feeling. I can’t imagine ever being happy in the impersonal atmosphere of the city.
My apartment was recently featured in a magazine article on modern city living. I live on the penthouse floor of a converted factory building in an area that is rapidly becoming one of the most sought-after in the city. There are five apartments in the building, all highly modern and minimalist. I fell in love with the open-plan design, floor-to-ceiling windows, and exposed brickwork the moment I stepped inside.
I own several Georgian properties. These houses date from the 1700tasks to about 1820 and theytaskre easy to identify as they have very high ceilings and sash windows - that is windows in which panes of glass are divided by thin, delicate wooden bars. Georgian style houses are very popular with buy-to-let landlords like myself as they can be easily split into flats. Theytaskre beautiful buildings that were built to last. Most of them are Listed Buildings, too.
I live with my parents in a new housing development complex on the outskirts of the city. There’s a real community feel to this complex and it has attracted a lot of families. We moved in only a couple of months ago. I really like our house because having just been built, everything is brand new and modern. Before we lived in a small, cramped flat in the centre. There’s even a lot of green space in the middle of the complex, so us kids can kick around a football.
