Indirect questions
We use indirect questions to be more polite and hesitant when we:
ask someone to do something for us;
want to find out some information.
With indirect questions we use:
affirmative word order;
if/whether with yes/nо questions;
when, where, what with wh- questions;
introductory phrases such as: Do you think/I wonder/ Do you know/Do you happen to know/I dontaskt know/Itaskd like to know/Are you sure/Can anyone tell me/Could you tell me/Would you mind telling me/Have you any idea/Do you remember?
5 Write indirect questions. Use the questions and the phrases in brackets to help you.
1 What are they talking about? (Have you any idea ...)
