Как вам идея отправить в космос послание будущим поколениям? Именно на это нацелен так называемый проект KEO. КЕО расшифровывается как ориентированное на знания наблюдение Земли. Это название также представляет три наиболее часто используемых звука, общих для широко распространенных языков сегодня.

KEO - один из крупнейших коллективных проектов в истории, начатый французским художником Жан-Марком Филиппом в 1994 году. Он разработал капсулу времени и пригласил людей со всего мира писать сообщения о своем образе жизни, надеждах и мечтах, сомнениях и разочарованиях. Как только спутник будет запущен, сообщения будут помещены в свободном доступе в интернете. “Они будут анонимными, но не исключено, что через них у нас появится новый образ человечества сегодня”, - говорит Жан-Марк Филипп.

Предполагается, что капсула времени будет запущена в космос, чтобы через 50 лет она могла вернуться на Землю, и люди, живущие в середине 21 века, смогли получить представление о том, какой была наша жизнь. Помимо посланий, в капсуле времени будет также находиться алмаз, в котором заключена капля человеческой крови, образцы воздуха, морской воды и земли, фотографии людей всех культур и “Современная Александрийская библиотека” — энциклопедический сборник современных человеческих знаний. Последний представляет собой каталог флоры и фауны, каталог искусств и некоторые основные тексты.

К моменту возвращения на Землю, КЕО пройдет 14,5 миллионов километров вокруг планеты. У него есть пара крыльев, предназначенных для того, чтобы дать наземным наблюдателям больше шансов обнаружить его в небе. Крылья могут открываться и закрываться по мере прохождения между солнечным светом и тьмой, используя естественную солнечную энергию.

Сообщения пришли из разных стран примерно на пятидесяти языках. Объем памяти КЕО настолько велик, что он может хранить сообщения каждого из 6 миллиардов жителей планеты Земля. Ожидается, что проект KEO ответит на два важных вопроса: кто мы и что мы могли бы сделать вместе, чтобы создать более человечный мир.

How do you like the idea of sending a message into space addressed to future generations? That is what the so-called KEO Project is aiming at. KEO stands for Knowledge-centred Earth Observation. Its name also represents the three most frequently used sounds (1) common to the widely spoken languages today

KEO is one of the biggest collective projects in history started by Jean-Marc Philippe, a French artist, in 1994. He designed a time capsule and invited people from all around the world to write messages about their ways of life, their hopes and dreams, (2) doubts and disappointments. Once the satellite is launched, the messages will be made freely available on the web. “They will be anonymous, but it is possible that through them we’ll have a new image of humanity today,” says Jean-Marc Philippe.

The time capsule is supposed to be launched into space so that it could return to Earth in 50 years and the people living in the middle of the 21st century will be able (3) to have an idea what our life is like. Apart from the messages, the time capsule will also carry a diamond that encases a drop of human blood, samples of air, sea water and earth, photographs of people of all cultures and “the contemporary library of Alexandria” — an encyclopaedic compendium of current human knowledge. The latter is a catalogue of the flora and fauna, a catalogue of the arts and some fundamental texts.

It has a pair of wings designed to give terrestrial observers a better chance to spot it in the sky. Messages have come from different countries (6) in about fifty languages KEO’s memory bank is so large that it can keep the messages of every one of the 6 billion inhabitants of the planet Earth.
