Kidnap ruled out on ghost yacht
Police investigating the case of the Australian ghost yacht. Zak III say they do not believe the crew were kidnapped.
The disappearance of Bob Hatton (56). Peter Dunstable (69) and his brother Jim (63) has baffled police since April 2007. They said goodbye to friends at the Last Coast port of Airlie Beach and were planning to sail to Townsville. They never got there. Their empty boat was found off the Australian coast and when police went on board, they expected to find a murder scene. Instead, they found a scene of eerie calm.
The abandoned boat was neat and tidy. The men’s clothes were folded on their beds. The table was laid for dinner. They can’t have been planning to go anywhere because a laptop was being recharged and there was a cup of coffee next to ill. It must have been just another normal day on board when tragedy struck. But what kind of tragedy?
‘I here were no signs that anyone had boarded the vessel,’ said a police spokesman. They must have fallen overboard and drowned.’ But Jean Gregory, Hattontasks niece, doesntaskt accept the police’s view of things. ‘It just doesn’t add up,’ argues Miss Gregory, taskThey were experienced sailors. They cantaskt have fallen over... not all three of them!task
The police say there may have been a sudden storm that knocked the crew off, but Gregory doesntaskt believe that theory either. They couldntaskt have been in any immediate danger,’ she says, "because their lifejackets were still folded up in the cabin.task Some think pirates may have boarded the ship and kidnapped the crew. Theretasks no evidence to support such a theory,’ said the police spokesman. taskPerhaps it is simply that they should have been more careful.task

Farmer’s discovery could solve 40-year-old mystery
A parachute unearthed by a farmertasks tractor last week could be a clue to one of the worlds great unsolved crimes.
In 19/2, a man railing himself Dan Cooper boarded Might 305 in Portland. Once in the air, he passed a note to the flight attendant winch read, I have a bomb. You are being hijackedtask. Cooper forced the pilot to land m Seattle. Once on the ground, he demanded $200, 000 and four parachutes. The authorities agreed to his demands. Cooper let the passengers go and the plane took off again.
Shortly after take off, Cooper asked the pilot to keep flying south, towards Mexico. When they were flying somewhere over the state of Washington, he made the flight attendant go to the flight deck with the pilots, that was the last time he was ever seen. Despite flying through the middle of a storm. Cooper opened the back door of the plane and jumper out. Of course, he took the ransom with him. A huge police search was carried out and investigations lasted for years afterwards, but Cooper - or whoever he was had disappeared without a trace. Until now.
Police are examining the parachute, but haventaskt yet decided if it is Coopertasks. But even if investigators do decide ittasks his, the mystery still remains: is he dead or alive? Some say that Cooper couldntaskt possibly have survived such a jump through a thunderstorm. Others say he cantaskt have died, because his body ought to have been found. It never was.
Over the years there have been countless theories about who Cooper was. The police have a suspect list with over 1.000 names. Perhaps the farmertasks discovery will help to solve the mystery.
