Some estimates show that linguistic (3) diversity is disappearing very fast. More than 50% of languages are (4) endangered. People might say: so what? It might be better for world peace if we all (5) had to speak major languages and understand each other. But it has taken centuries for people to (6) get knowledge about their environment. When people (7) lose their mother tongues, much of this knowledge also disappears, as the (8) dominant languages do not have this specific vocabulary.
