Situation A
Making a Medical Appointment
Student 1 (patient)
You are taking a course in an International language school.
This morning you do not feel well and you decide to see the campus doctor.
Call the doctor’s office and arrange the appointment for the nearest possible time. It’s 8.45 am at the moment.
Student 2 (receptionist in a medical centre)
1. Receive a telephone call. Find out in brief what the patient’s problem is.
2. Assign the time for the patient’s visit. According to the doctor’s schedule, he / she is available today from 10.00 till 11.00 and from 16.00 till 17.00.
3. Take the patient’s name and confirm the time.

Student 1 (patient)
When at the receptionist’s desk, introduce yourself.
When in the doctor’s office, describe how you feel.
Answer the doctor’s questions.
Ask the doctor questions to make sure you know what to do.
Student 2 (receptionist)
When the patient arrives, see him / her to the doctor.
