What Is a National Wildlife Park?
A national wildlife park is a particular area of land or water where the whole ecosystem is under the state protection.
On the territory of a national park nobody can hunt birds or animals, go fishing in lakes or rivers, collect mushrooms and berries in the forests, cut trees or make fires, excavate minerals and do any kind of business. These areas are protected from human development so that future generations can enjoy nature.
The main purpose of a national park is to preserve nature in its unique native state. Other functions of a national wildlife park are ecological education and scientific research. There are more than 100 national parks in Russia now.
Many national parks organise excursions so that people could admire the special qualities of natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage of the place.
