Вы не могли решить, какой вид поведения выбрать, так как чувствовали, что вы не относитесь к этому.

Когда это было
Где это было
Что конкретно за собрание было
Какие точно были у вас чувства
Какое поведение вы выбрали тогда
Было ли это поведение, которое вам следовало выбрать

I think everyone was in such situation, when he felt uncomfortable. As for me, I don’t like parties with a lot of people, where everyone wants to show how stylish and modern he is. You, your clothes or behavior will be discussed; you should smile to everyone and speak about fashion. So, I had such a situation 3 years ago, at my friend’s party. I felt not at ease, I didn’t know what to say and what behavior to choose. So, I just tried to be myself and speak about common things.

Я считаю, что каждый был в такой ситуации, когда он чувствовал себя некомфортно. Что касается меня, я не люблю вечеринки с большим количеством народа, где каждый хочет показать себя какой он стильный и современный. Вас, вашу одежду и поведение будут обсуждать, вы должны улыбаться всем и говорить о моде. Так, у меня была такая ситуация 3 года назад, на вечеринке у друга. Я чувствовал себя не в своей тарелке, я не знал, что сказать и какое поведение выбрать. Так, я просто попытался быть собой и говорить об общих вещах.
