а) “это нелепая привязанность,” щебетали другие ласточки; “у нее нет денег и слишком много отношений.”

b) “когда я был жив и имел человеческое сердце, - отвечала статуя, “я не знал, что слезы были, ибо я жил во Дворце Сан-Суси, где печаль не пускают.”

c) “Мои придворные называли меня счастливым принцем, и я был действительно счастлив, если удовольствие-это счастье.”

d) “любопытно, - заметил он, - но я чувствую себя довольно тепло, хотя сейчас так холодно.” “Это потому, что ты сделала доброе дело, - сказал Принц.

Решение #

a) The Swallow fell in love with the Reed. He flew round and round her, touching the water with his wings and this was his courtship that lasted all through the summer. Other swallows said it was a ridiculous attachment because the river was quite full of her relatives and she was silent and absolutely poor (Ласточка влюбилась в Тростинку. Она кружилась вокруг нее, касаясь воды крыльями, и это было его ухаживанием, которое продлилось все. Другие ласточки сказали, что это была нелепая связь, потому что река была довольно полна ее родственниками, и она была молчалива и абсолютно бедна).

b) This lines report about the Happy Prince's life that he described to the Swallow. He lived in a glorious palace where he played with his companions and never cared to ask what laid beyond a lofty wall round the garden (Эти строки сообщают о жизни Счастливого принца, которую он описал Ласточке. Он жил в великолепном дворце, где он играл со своими друзьями и никогда спрашивал, что лежит вне высокой стены вокруг сада).

c) He was careless and didn't know sorrow. His courtiers called his the Happy Prince and he was really happy because he enjoyed all the possible pleasures. But when he became a statue, he understood that he had to help the poor and ugly people when he was younger and could move (Он был беспечен и не знал горя. Его придворные называли его Счастливым принцем, и он был действительно счастлив, потому что он наслаждался всеми возможными удовольствиями. Но когда он стал статуей, он понял, что должен был помогать бедным и уродливым людям, когда он был моложе и мог двигаться).

d) The Swallow agreed to be the Prince's messenger and helped the poor woman and ill boy although he didn't like little boys at all. The Swallow was rewarded for these good actions and he felt warm when it was very cold outside (Ласточка согласилась быть посыльным принца и помогла бедной женщине и больному мальчику, хотя ей не нравились маленькие мальчики вообще. Ласточка была вознаграждена за эти хорошие поступки, и она чувствовал себя в тепле, в то время как снаружи было очень холодно).
