I think the values and beliefs of ravers are to try out everything. They also like to be in a collective. I believe that they are positive people and it’s good, but they should be more serious.

I think the values and beliefs of punks are to show a rebellion against the regime or the society. They reject everything and rebel against the society and older generation. I guess such behavior is dangerous, they are very aggressive.

I think that grown-ups don’t like punks because of their looks. Skinheads are considered violent and agressive. It seems to me that adults don’t like ravers because they don’t understand such music and don’t approve of parties. Bikers are thought to be dangerous. Grown-ups think that goths are sinister and strange. I suppose that some people don’t like hippies because their behavior differs from social norms. It seems to me that adults like mods because they listen to soul and look quite normal. I think that adults consider rockers to be rebels so they probably don’t like them (Я думаю, что взрослым не нравятся панки из-за их вида. Скинхедов считают агрессивными и склонными к насилию. Мне кажется, что взрослым не нравятся рейверы, потому что они не понимают такую музыку и не одобряют вечеринки. Байкеров считают опасными. Взрослые считают, что готы зловещие и странные. I think, the organizations, which have the constructive character are good. These are the volunteers, young farmers, environmentalists. People in such groupings do positive things, they help the others, and they are altruists. I respect such people.

My attitude to subculture groupings are not so good, because they don’t do anything useful for the others, they just show off and express their own identity. Of course, it’s their choice and they can do what they wish.

Я считаю, что организации, которые носят созидательный характер хорошие. Это волонтеры, молодые фермеры, защитники окружающей среды. Люди в таких группах делают положительные вещи, они помогают другим, и они альтруисты. Я уважаю таких людей.

Мое отношение к группам субкультуры не такое хорошее, потому что они не делают ничего полезного для других, они просто выставляют себя напоказ, и выражают свою собственную индивидуальность. Конечно, это их выбор, и они могут делать, что пожелают.

I don’t really like skinheads for their racist ideas. But on the whole I think that all people have the right to self-expression and to choose their own style. I think every subculture has its own interesting points. I like bikers’ way of life. It seems to me that they have more freedom and I think that riding a bike is great. I suppose that it is very exciting to be a hacker but at the same time it is rather dangerous as they sometimes do illegal things. I can’t understand people who don’t like hippies. They are different of course but they do not bring anything wrong into the society. They only want to change this world for the best.

Скинхеды мне не нравятся из-за их расистских идей. Ho в целом, я считаю, что все люди имеют право на самовыражение и на то, чтобы выбирать свой стиль. Я думаю, что у каждой субкультуры есть свои интересные стороны. Мне нравится стиль жизни байкеров. Мне кажется, что у них больше свободы, и ездить на мотоцикле просто здорово. Я думаю, что быть хакером очень увлекательно, но и опасно, так как они часто совершают противозаконные вещи. Я не понимаю людей, которые не любят хиппи. Anthony: It seems to the kids that the parents are always saying NO! That everything about us, our hair, our music, our clothes, the way we talk, our heroes, our dreams, all are considered bad by the generation who cantaskt stop patting itself on the back over how democratic and liberal it is.

Dick: I think the inspiration to form a youth culture comes out of a combination of fashion, style and music. And that often ittasks the particularity of the music, which then gathers a group and then extends and develops.

Roger: You want to know when youtaskre 14, 15, 16, 17, you want to know who you are and try out all sorts of options. The way you look, or the way you dress will tell you and everybody else something about the person you need to be.

Tracy: In many ways the elder generation cannot understand the younger, because so much has increased in complexity. Besides the youth always tends to change the world.
